Pertamina, Inalum plan calcined petroleum plant

State-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina said it hopes to soon realize a joint venture agreement with state-owned aluminum maker PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium (Inalum) to develop a calcined petroleum plant in Dumai, Riau Province.

Pertamina Risk Management and Investment Planning Director, Gigih Prakoso said on Friday that the two companies are finalizing a joint study to determine the size of investment for the plant.

Calcined petroleum is a raw material for the production of aluminum.

Gigih said that Pertamina will have a 75 percent stake in the joint venture company, while Inalum 25 percent. He added that construction of the plant is expected to start next year. (*)
