Pertamina interested in Alas Dara field

ExxonMobil Indonesia and PT Pertamina (Persero) are in discussion on the possible takeover by the state firm of Alas Dara Kemuning field in Cepu block in Central Java which the American firm is reportedly planning to return to the government.
?We are studying options. We are discussing it internally. It is not our practice to share our internal discussion,? ExxonMobil VP Exploration and Internal Relations for Indonesia Asep Sulaiman told Petromindo.com.
Separately, Pertamina?s Business Development Director Andriyansah confirmed that the firm is interested to take over the field. ?We consider the asset is worth developing although for Exxon, it is too small. Pertamina has started discussing it,? he said.
Earlier, Kontan, quoting sources, said ExxonMobil is planning to relinquish the field because its reserve is too small for the firm. The field reportedly holds 82 million barrels of oil. The field is among fields in Cepu which ExxonMobil and Pertamina are in the process of developing. Other fields are Giyanti, Banyu Urip, Cendana and Alas Tua. The firms plan to produce up to 165,000 barrels of oil from the block starting 2014.
