State-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina (Persero) is interested to buy gas from Jambu Aye Utara (JAU) gas field offshore Aceh.
Director of Gas and Power at Pertamina Hari Karyuliarto told Petromindo.Com that gas from the field will be transported to North Sumatra through Arun-Belawan gas pipeline that is currently being built by Pertamina.
JAU field is located within Krueng Mane PSC which is operated by Italian oil and gas giant ENI SpA. Eni has 85 percent interest in Krueng Mane PSC.
SKK Migas Deputy for Commercial Supervision Widhyawan Prawiraatmadja told Petromindo.Com this week that one of the main hurdles for the field development is lack of gas buyer, as the field could only supply gas for four years. Under the PoD approved in 2012, the field is expected to flow gas at 100 MMCFD for three years with estimated gas reserves of 500BCF.
The field is located in the water depth of 600-650 meters.
Eni has been trying to find ways to commercialize JAU field including sending gas to Arun LNG plant and to Aceh fertilizer firm PT PIM.
