State-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina has invited a total of 56 companies operating refineries in the Asia Pacific region to participate in an upcoming tender for crude processing deal (CPD), Bisnis Indonesia reported on Thursday.

The paper quoted Vice President Crude and Commercial at Pertamina?s Integrated Supply Chain (ISC), Hasto Wibowo as saying that the company is currently waiting for their response.

Pertamina is seeking to process crude obtained from its overseas assets and purchased from the spot market using refineries owned by overseas companies given the limited capacity of its refineries at home. The fuel output will be allocated to help meet domestic demand.

Senior Vice President of ISC, Daniel Purba said that the company aims to select the winning bidder in May, to allow the first monthly shipment of 1 million barrels of crude to the overseas refinery in June. ?If the loading is in June, we?ll have to decide (on the winning bidder) in May,? he said.

The company is seeking to obtain seven million barrels of gasoline products such as Premium, Petralite, and Petramax fuel oil brands in the second semester of this year from the crude processing deal. (*)
