State owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with PT Jakarta Propertindo, which is owned the Jakarta provincial administration, and Japanese firm Mitsui Company & Limited to build a 350 MW gas turbine power plant in Marunda, North Jakarta.
The MoU was signed on Nov. 19, 2014 by Pertamina?s then Gas Director Hari Karyuliarto, President Director of Jakarta Propertindo Budi Karya Sumadi and Mitsui Representative GM Pramudiono Iko, according to Pertamina.
The cooperation between the three companies are expected to last at least 20 years and they are expected to form a joint venture in the near future, Pertamina said.
The power plant will be built through the Independent Power Producer (IPP) scheme, meaning the power will be sold through state owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN).
Iko said Mitsui is among the pioneers in IPP business in Indonesia. It was involved in the development of PLTU Paiton in East Java in 1992.
Meanwhile, Bud said a 15 ha plot of land in Marunda will be allocated for the project. The joint venture may also make use of the 30-ha Marunda lake for the project if needed.
