Pertamina, Jakpro sign MoU to boost gas use in Jakarta

State owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina and Jakarta Provincial Government-owned firm Jakpro has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote the use of gas for transportation, city gas and power plants in Jakarta.

The MoU was signed on Tuesday by Pertamina?s Gas Director Hari Karyuliarto and Jakpro President Director Budi Karya Sumadi.

?Pertamina has taken the right step by partnering with Jakpro since Jakpro as a regional government-owned firm will provide access to local resources that are needed for the acceleration of the development of gas infrastructure, either for transportation, city gas and Independent Power Producers (IPP). For its role, Pertamina will develop gas infrastructure based international standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 18001, which have become parameters for the reliability of world-class gas infrastructures,? Hari sad in a statement.

Under the MoU, Pertamina targets to build infrastructures such as natural gas stations in strategic points in Jakarta, city gas pipeline networks to the areas where Jakpro has and will build low-end apartments. Besides, Pertamina and Jakpro will work together to make a comprehensive study for the development of city gas pipeline networks and IPP plus their supporting facilities in the Special Economic Zone and to support future mass rapid transportation.
