Pertamina launches 5-kg LPG

State owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina launched on Friday LPG sold in 5-kg canister called Bright Gas targeting small families and people living in apartments as potential customers.

The launching was carried out in ceremony attended by among others Director General of Oil and Gas IGN Wiratmaja, Pertamina?s President Director Dwi Soetjipto, Pertamina?s Commissioner Tanri Abeng, and Pertamina?s Marketing Director Ahmad Bambang.

?The launching of 5.5kg Bright Bas serves a solution to households who need LPG in lighter and practical package at affordable price. Career women, dynamic housewives, small families and people living in apartments who less often cook themselves are target consumers of 5.5-kg Bright Gas,? Ahmad said.

Until the launching of the new product, Pertamina only sold LPG in two variants of canister, namely 3-kg and 12-kg canister. The 3-kg LPG is mostly bought by poor families and micro businesses, while the 12-kg LPG is mostly bought middle-class households. One of the disadvantages of the 12-kg LPG is that it is too heavy to carry. The 5-kg LPG is easy to carry by women, according to Ahmad.

Pertamina will start distributing the new product in November. It is available at the Indomaret convenience store outlets, Pertamina?s gas stations and Pertamina?s LGP dealers.
