Pertamina launches cheap gas for vehicles

State-owned oil and gas company Pertamina launched new cheap fuel alternative called liquid gas for vehicle (LGV), for both private and public vehicles in a public gasoline station on Jalan Pramuka, East Jakarta, Monday, Kontan reported Tuesday.
Pertamina?s President Director Ari H Soemarno said on Monday that the new fuel alternative, which is sold under the brand of Vi-Gas, is made of propane (C3) and butane (C4). The gas, which can be used by both private and public vehicles, is sold for Rp 3,500 (1 US$=Rp9,260) per liter equivalent.
With regards to the new Vi-Gas, many people are still unaware of it. Pertamina has not yet given enough information on the types of vehicles that can use the new fuel, and whether or not the vehicles have to be equipped first with a conversion kit before using the new fuel . (*)
