State oil and gas firm Pertamina said on Tuesday it had produced two new kinds of unleaded gasoline to replace the current unleaded ?Premix? and ?Super ITT?.

The new products, called Pertamax and Pertamax Plus, have relatively high contents of octane in line with provisions of World Wide Fuel Charter, Pertamina said in a press statement.

The items contain additives which are meant to clean certain parts of car engines, the company said.

Pertamina said the production of Pertamax and Pertamax Plus had been based on results of research conducted by the company at domestic and overseas laboratories.

Initially, the fuel products will be sold at fuel stations in Jakarta, Banten, West Java and Bali. (leo)
