State-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina launched a new oil tanker with capacity of 17,500 LTDW at the end of last month at a shipyard facility of PT Anggrek Hitam.
Agus Pranoto, Vice President of Shipping Operation at Pertamina, said to Petromindo.com on Monday that the new tanker was named MT Pattimura.
He added that MT Pattimura is a second tanker ordered by the company from Anggrek Hitam.
In January, Pertamina launched two tankers, each with capacity of 17,500 LTDW, one ordered from Anggrek Hitam and another from PT Multi Ocean Shipyard.
The new tankers are part of the eight general purpose tankers ordered by Pertamina Shipping from domestic shipyard firms this year.
Vessel launching is a process to transfer newly-built vessel from building berth to the waters for commissioning and then sea trial prior to delivery.
