Pertamina launches self-service gas station pilot project

State oil and gas company PT Pertamina on Thursday launched self-service gas station (SPBU) pilot project in Serpong, Tangerang as a move to improve and differentiate its service as competition in the fuel distribution tightens.

?The SPBU in Serpong is our second pilot project after introducing similar gas station in Cikarang, West Java earlier,? VP for fuel retailing of Pertamina, Basuki Trikora Putra told Petromindo.com.

?We will see how consumers react to this new service,? he noted. The self-service gas stations would provide an option to consumers.

Competition in fuel distribution is tightening as other players such as Shell and Total are expanding their wing. (godang)
