Pertamina launches training program to upgrade local human resources

The state-owned oil and gas company Pertamina unit in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan opened on Wednesday a training program designed to upgrade the quality of local human resources to be able to work at the local oil and gas industry, the Kaltim Post daily reported.
The paper said that the training program was made in cooperation with the ministry of labor?s training center.
The paper said that there has been quite a large of employment opportunities in Balikpapan oil and gas industry for the local people but the main problem for their recruitment was the lack of capability.
Pertamina has been accused of giving priority to outsiders particularly from Java to work in the local oil and gas industry.(*)
