State-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina has just completed testing of a LNG-fueled train at a facility owned by state-owned railway firm PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) in Yogyakarta.
?The LNG train has been tested, the result is good,? said Vice President of LNG at Pertamina, Didik Sasongko Widi on Friday, adding that commercial operation is targeted in the fourth quarter of 2018 when a mini terminal has been completed and oil price doesn?t drop.
He said that Pertamina and KAI will sign an agreement for the commercialization of the LNG-fueled train.
He said that the train will be operated along the northern coastal Java route. In the initial phase, the required LNG volume is only around 5 mmscfd until 2020, which will be supplied from Tangguh, in Papua, and Bontang, in East Kalimantan.
