State-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina lowered retail prices for several non-subsidized fuels for industry (non-subsidized fuels) beginning December 1, 2008 following the recent decrease in international crude prices.

Pertamina said on Sunday that price of non-subsidized fuels such as Premium gasoline was slashed to Rp 6,500.03 from Rp 6,600.08 (US$= Rp 11,950) per liter, while that of kerosene was reduced to Rp 7,130.75 per liter from Rp 7.409.82 per liter and that of high-speed diesel (HSD) to Rp 6,727.50 per liter from Rp 7,078.94 per liter.

At the same time, Pertamina also cut the price of marine fuel oil (MFO) to Rp 3,644.08 per liter from Rp 4,022.59 per liter and that of marine diesel fuel (MDF) to Rp 6,096.86 per liter from Rp 6,473.72 per liter.

The price of subsidized diesel fuel for public transportation is maintained at Rp 6,000 per liter while that of subsidized Premium gasoline was lowered to Rp 5,500 per liter. Price for subsidized kerosene for household and small industry usages is maintained at Rp. 2,500 per liter.

Meanwhile, Pertamina also slashed Vi-gas to Rp 4,500 per liter from Rp 5,000 per liter previously. Pertamina launched a liquefied gas for vehicles (LGV) which is called Vi-Gas and claimed to be eco-friendly and safer than other gas-based fuels.

Vi-Gas, has a pressure level of eight to 12 bars, which is much lower than compressed natural gas (CNG), which has a pressure level of about 200 bars. This means the use of Vi-Gas in vehicles is safer than CNG.

Currently, Vi-Gas is available at a gas station on Jl. Pramuka in East Jakarta , Jl Abdul Muis and Jl HR Rasuna Said. (godang)
