The demands of the Samarinda House of Representatives for the local office of the state-owned oil and gas company Pertamina to immediately investigate the fuel shortage problem in the area would have to be delayed because the man in charge for the fuel distribution, M. Noor, head of the marketing division of Pertamina Samarinda office in East Kalimantan has taken a vacation since last Friday.
The local Kaltim Post quoted a female staff at Pertamina Samarinda office as saying that Noor had taken a vacation in Surabaya, East Java, and would return to office on Friday.
Several parts in Samarinda has been reportedly to have suffered fuel shortage. There has been suspicion that smuggling and piling up activities of fuel products had increased in the run up to the planned increase in fuel products.
Several legislators had been irritated by earlier remarks of Noor that there was not fuel shortage problem in the Samarinda area.
Meanwhile, Kaltim Post also said that the people continued to face difficulties in obtaining kerosene. The problem is seen in several areas including in the Jl. P. Suryanata street, M. Yamin, Sungai Dama, and Soetomo street. (*)
