Pertamina may ration fuel for industries if Iraqi war lasts long

State oil and gas firm Pertamina may have to ration fuel for industries if war breaks out in Iraq and lasts long, company president director Baihaki Hakim said Thursday.

? The worst scenario is that war will last long. If this happens, we shall have to ration fuel for industries,? Baihaki told reporters.

Baihaki said earlier that they had held talks with several refineries in Singapore about the possibility of processing Pertamina?s crude to anticipate US attack on Iraq.

Meanwhile, the government on Thursday ordered Pertamina to operate all refineries at full capacity, and cancel shutdown of Balikpapan refinery in East Kalimantan.

Pertamina imports light crude from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait for Cilacap refinery in Central Java, the country?s largest crude refining projects.

Indonesia has nine crude refineries, all state-owned and operated by Pertamina. (godang)
