State owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina is in talks with publicly-listed energy firm PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk on a possible biofuel supply to the country's gas stations.

Pertamina expected to get 900,000 kiloliters of ethanol supply from Medco as raw material for the production of the so-called Biopremium biofuel by the state owned company, Pertamina's Fuel Division Head Djaelani Sutomo said on Wednesday.

The Biopremium is composed of Premium gasoline (98 percent) and ethanol (2 percent)

Djaelani said Pertamina has started supply gas stations in Jakarta with Biopremium this month. The fuel has been available at Pertamina's fuel stations in Kuningan, Abdul Muis, Pramuka and Kemayoran areas of the metropolis. The firm will soon make the fuel available in nine other gas stations of the city. (Godang)
