Pertamina, Mitsubishi sign MoU on petrochemical development

"Pertamina is the owner of the largest refinery plant in Southeast Asia and the 5th largest in Asia. The cooperation will support the performance of Pertamina as the leading supplier in domestic petrochemical market,? said Pertamina President Director Karen Agustiwan in Jakarta on Friday.
?We have a great potential to integrate the business of refinery plant and petrochemical, and to give added value to the Indonesian natural resources. By having such advantage, we aim to become main player in Indonesia and in this regional. That?s why we?ve partnered with the big and strong firms,? she said.
Mitsubishi Corporation is a widely diversified multinational company, which has experiences in doing various businesses, including finance, metal, energy, machinery, food, and petrochemical.
As the world?s leading company in petrochemical, Mitsubishi has been experienced in a partnership to manufacture petrochemical and to sell petrochemical products needed in Indonesia.
?We believe that this business is very promising and it will become as one of our business pillars to realize our vision of becoming the world class energy company and the Asian champion by the year 2025,? she said.
?We?re very serious in doing our cooperation with Mitsubishi and the government will support us,? she said.
Pertamina has also signed this week an MoU with PTT Global Chemical of Tailand and SK Global Chemical of Korea. Pertamina will increase the petrochemical investment with the companies to fulfill the need of local market.
