Pertamina moves ahead with mini LNG project in Papua

PT Pertamina is awaiting the results of a due diligence on Raja Ampat district owned company wishing to cooperate with the state owned oil and gas firm in building a mini LNG plant with a capacity of 20 mmscfd in Salawati, Papua.

?We plan to build the mini LNG plant in Salawati. Target of completion is by 2015,? Pertamina VP for LNG Project Daniel Purba told petromindo.com, adding that the gas will be sourced from Salawati field, operated by Pertamina-Petrochina JOB.

Mini LNG technology was chosen as it is practical and suitable to the energy needs in the islands. Pertamina plans to engage Linde Gas Asia Private Ltd. as the technology provider, which has been successful in developing mini LNG projects in a number of countries.

LNG from the refinery will be transported and regasified to meet the fuels needs of PLN power plants in eastern Indonesia and the energy needs in Raja Ampat and its surrounding areas.
