Pertamina mulls buying LNG carriers

Tuesday, October 7 2003 - 09:29 AM WIB

State oil and gas firm Pertamina has planned to purchase liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers to keep up with its program of buying new crude oil and fuel tankers, a company official said Tuesday.

"We want to have LNG carriers of our own as soon as possible," Pertamina's downstream director Hari Purnomo told reporters.

Hari did not say however when his company would open tenders for the procurement of LNG tankers and how many carriers it planned to buy.

Pertamina has opened tender to purchase six locally and foreign made carriers to transport crude oil and fuel. They are among the 12 tankers Pertamina had planned to buy. (godang)
