State-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina is mulling to buy oil products, especially automotive diesel oil, from Russia to meet the domestic demand, the Koran Tempo newspaper reported in its Monday edition.
Pertamina is also planning to acquire Russian technology and equipment.
Pertamina?s president director Widya Purnama led a delegation to Russia in this connection over the weekend.
?We wanted to search for oil in Russia,? Widya told the Koran Tempo?s reporter in Russia.
According to Widya, Russia is one of the world?s biggest producers of oil and oil products and had developed oil technology which is on par with American technology but less expensive.
Widya said Pertamina is ready to work with Russian companies, both government companies like Gasprom and private firms like Lookoil and Rosneft.
?We like more to purchase Russian oil directly without any broker,? Widya said. (*)
