State oil and gas company PT Pertamina said it might not take part in tender to become new operator of Pase block in Nangroe Aceh Darussalam should the government decide to offer the block to other parties.
The government has extended the right of Australia-based Triangle Energy Ltd to manage the block for another six months until a new operator is identfied. Triangle?s contract on the block expired on February 23, 2012.
?Pertamina might not be interested in taking over the block,? Muhammad Husein, Director for Upstream of Pertamina, told Petromindo.com. He however declined to elaborate further on the reasons why Pertamina was not interested in the block.
Triangle?s wholly owned subsidiary Triangle Pase Inc (TPI) last year had actually submitted an application for contract renewal of further 20 years for the Pase PSC.
