State owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina is thus far not interested in acquiring the interest of Chinese firm China National Oil Offshore Company (CNOOC) SES Ltd in South East Sumatra (SES) PSC, South Sumatra.

This was said by Pertamina?s Upstream Director Syamsu Alam.

Pertamina, through PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), is a partner of CNOOC in the block.

According to sources, CNOOC has asked permission from upstream authority SKK MIgas to open the data room of SES block, which indicates intention to farm out stake in the block. There isn?t yet an official announcement of the farm-out plan.

The SES block is located in the shallow water (17-55 m) of the Java Sea in southeast of Sumatra, about 90 km northwest of Jakarta. CNOOC SES Ltd as operator has 65.54 percent interest in the block, while the remaining interest is owned by Pertamina Hulu Energi OSES (20.55 percent), Saka Energi Sumatra (8.91 percent), and KUFPEC Indonesia (SES) B.V. (5 percent).
