State oil and gas company PT Pertamina is not interested in South East Sumatera (SES) Block which is operated by China National Oil Offshore Company (CNOOC), which will expire in 2018.

?We do not plan to enter the CNOOC?s block,? Vice President of Business Development at Upstream Directorate Andriyansah told petromindo.com. His remarks are in conflict with earlier statement from Director of Upstream M. Husein, who in March said that SES is one of the blocks targeted by Pertamina.

Andriyansah added that Pertamina instead is concentrating on efforts to take over the operatorship of Mahakam block from the current operator Total E&P Indonesie when the contract expires in 2017.

On July 16, Director General of Oil and Gas at the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry Evita Legowo said that the government will give priority to Pertamina to takeover oil and gas blocks whose contracts have expired including the Mahakam block.
