State oil and gas firm Pertamina has so far not yet decided on what measures to be taken against those who have neglected their duties that caused fire and explosion in the Balikpapan II oil refinery plant last week.

Pertamina's processing director, Ariffi Nawawi, said on Tuesday in Jakarta that his party would take sterns measures against anyone responsible for the explosion.

Arrifi said that investigation against the explosion was still underway, and promised that the results of the investigation would be announced to the public.

"Anyone that will later be proven derelict in their duties that cause the accident will be punished," he said.

Ariffi is also a commissioner at PT Elnusa Elektro Eknika (EPT), a partnership between Pertamina former president Soeharto's youngest son Hutomo Mandala Putra. Elnusa is responsible for the maintenance of the Balikpapan II refinery plant. Elnusa also monopolizes the maintenance of Pertamina's six other refineries. (*)
