Pertamina offers Total to jointly develop oil retail business in E. Kalimantan

State-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina said on Tuesday it had offered French-based oil and gas giant Total to jointly develop downstream business in East Kalimantan.

?We offer Total to cooperate in oil retailing business in East Kalimantan," Pertamina downstream director Harry Purnomo told reporters.

Harry said Total had proposed to develop the retail business including to build a refinery in Java island. But, Pertamina wanted to expand other new facilities in the eastern part of Indonesia.

?Pertamina aimed at to secure the oil products supply to Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and Papua islands,? Harry said.

Harry added that Pertamina didn?t want to use its existing refineries and terminals facilities in a new downstream cooperation.

Meanwhile, when contacted by Petromindo.com, Total E&P Indonesie senior official Ananda Idris confirmed that the company is studying the Pertamina offers. (godang)
