Pertamina operates new Tuban fuel storage

State owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina (Persero) officially began the operation of its main fuel storage complex in Tuban, East Java on Saturday to improve efficiency in fuel distribution in the province and eastern part of Indonesia.

Pertamina?s director for marketing and commercial, Djaelani Sutomo said in Jakarta that the storage with a capacity of 350,000 kiloliters would replace the floating storage previously used by the company in the distribution of fuels in East Java.

Djaelani said that with the operation of the storage, Pertamina could save costs because it would no longer need to continue renting the floating storage it is using now as receiving terminal. Pertamina has spent about US$10 million a year to rent the floating storage.

He said that the new storage facilities comprised 4 fixed dome/umbrella roof tanks, each with a capacity of 50,000 kiloliters, 3 fixed dome/umbrella roof tanks with a capacity of 30,000 kiloliters, 3 floating roof tanks with a capacity of 20,000 kiloliters and diesel oil storage with a capacity of 200 kiloliters.

The terminal is also connected to Installasi Surabaya Group (ISG) through a 16-inch piple with a legth of 138 km and pumping capacity of 659 kl per hour.

The Tuban storage is equipped with a number of facilities including two Single Point Mooring with a capacity of 150,000 and 35,000 DWT respectively. (godang)
