Pertamina, partners strike gas, condensate in S. Sumatra

JOB Pertamina-YPF Jambi Merang, one of state owned oil and company Pertamina?s production sharing contractors in South Sumatra province, has discovered gas and condensate in the Kenawang I well in Jambi Merang joint operating body (JOB) area, according to a release from Pertamina.

The release said that the well flowed 13.4 million standard cubic feet of per day (MMCFD) of gas and 365 barrels per day (BPD) of condensate at 47 API degrees through 40/64? choke.

It further said that the limestone formation measuring 6,744 and 7,174 feet in width and 894 feet in length discovered in the new well contain hydrocarbon of 348 feet in thickness, with an average porosity of 14.8 percent.

The discovery was the second after the one in Pulau Gading.

The release said that the gas Kenawang would be processed and marketed together with the gas from Pulau Gading.

Pertamina hold 50 percent interest in Jambi Merang joint operating body (JOB), while Spanish-Argentinean firm Repsol-YPF and US firm Amerada Hess equally hold the remaining 50 percent.
