Pertamina, partners to drill C. Java exploration wells

PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), an upstream subsidiary of state oil and gas firm PT Pertamina (Persero) will drill two wildcat exploration wells in Randu Gunting PSC onshore Central Java this year.

PHE Acting President director Dwi Martono told Petromindo.Com on Monday that the wells will be the first drilled under the tri-partite partnership between Pertamina, Malaysia?s Petronas and Petrovietnam Investment and Development Company (PIDC).

First well will be drilled in July-August with target total depth of around 1,500 meters and the second to follow November -December with target depth of more than 2,000 meters, he said.

Earlier, PHE and partners only planned to drill one well in the block this year.

PHE has 40 percent interest in the block, while PIDC and Petronas equally share the remaining balance. (bernard)
