State oil and gas company Pertamina said on Friday it was pessimistic about reaching 50,000 barrels per day average production of oil from the Coastal Plain Pekanbaru (CPP) block.
Pertamina's upstream acting director Eteng Salam told reporters production currently is stable at around 34,000 bpd and the company is still trying to increase output.
"Pertamina is still working to increase production from the CPP block, but it seems to be difficult to achieve the 50,000 bpd target for this year," Salam told reporters.
He gave no new target.
A government official, who declined to be identified, said: "I don't think Pertamina will reach the 50,000 bpd target. There are several problems in CPP block development. I think the production average will be at around 44,000 bpd by the end of this year." (*)
