Ariffi Nawawi, president director of state-owned oil and gas company Pertamina, said on Thursday that petrochemical industry was also included in its downstream core business.
Ariffi said despite the high complexity of petrochemical business, Pertamina was expanding business in the sector, citing its high in profit margin.
He said the company was expanding a number of its oil refineries to produce petrochemical output.
At Balongan oil refinery in West Java, Pertamina has planned to increase propylene output as part of its re-pumping Balongan project.
At Balikpapan refinery, Pertamina planned to add residue creating catalyst (rcc) facility unit to produce propylene.
At Dumai refinery, Pertamina has planned to repair its calciner facility unit -- converting greencoke to be calcined -- which was hoped starting to produce calcined in 2006. (Godang)
