Pertamina and Petrochina joint operation body (JOB) will develop two more oil wells in the Sukowati oil field in Bojonegoro, Tuban, East Java following the completion of the drilling activities of two oil wells in the oil field recently, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Thursday.

The JOB estimates that the four wells would be able to produce crude oil of about 16,000 barrels per day.

Sularyo Reksokoesoemo, the JOB?s field manager, said the development of the four oil wells in the Sukowati was part of the joint operation body?s exploration projects in its Bjonergoro oil concession, which also includes Mudi oil field.

The JOB has carried out drilling activities on about 21 oil wells in the Mudi field since 2001. This field has so far produced between 11,000 and 14,000 barrels per day.

Sularyo said that the JOB would develop 11-km pipeline project linking the Sukowati and Mudi field for the transmission of the crude oil production from the two oil fields to an offshore oil receiving terminal. "We expect the pipeline project can be started in June this year. (*)
