Pertamina, PetroChina make oil find in East Java

State oil, gas company PT Pertamina and Chinese firm PetroChina partnership has discovered oil in recent exploration drilling at Tuban JOB onshore East Java, a company official said on Wednesday.

Suryadi Oemar, Pertamina-PetroChina East Java (PPEJ) GM told Petromindo.Com that the South Bungoh well flowed 1,300 BPD during drill stem test from one layer. Another two layers tested poor quality of gas and currently the fourth layer is being tested. The well is located in Gresik regency.

Another well will be drilled next year to delineate the extend of the discovery, he said.

PPEJ will also start drilling Lengowangi 2A exploration well to follow up drilling of Lengowati 2 well which was previously stopped at the depth of 1,850 feet after encountering a crater. Test at the Lengowati 2 showed that the well was an oil discovery well. Suryadi said the Lengowati 2A will, which will be drilled to the depth of 4,500 feet, is located some 10 meters from Lengowati 2. (alex)
