Pertamina, Petronas, PTTEP launch joint study on enhanced oil recovery in Malaysia

Pertamina has begun a joint study with Malaysia’s Petronas and Thailand’s PTTEP to pilot improved and enhanced oil recovery technology for jointly managed oil fields in Malaysia, according to a senior company executive.
Mochamad Taufan, Pertamina International EP Vice President for Development and Drilling, said in a social media post that the three companies held discussions last week to initiate a joint study and pilot implementation of I EOR technology.

The initiative is aimed at optimizing recovery rates from mature oil fields through the application of advanced recovery techniques, while supporting longer term production sustainability.
Taufan said the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to technological innovation, recovery optimization and sustainable value creation across the participating companies.
The pilot project will focus on fields that are jointly managed in Malaysia, though further technical details and timelines were not disclosed.
