State-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina plans to build a centralize crude terminal (CCT) in Lawe-Lawe, East Kalimantan Province, that would among others function as temporary storage of crude required by the nearby Balikpapan refinery.
Pertamina Director of Petrochemical and Processing Megaproject, Rachmad Hardadi said on Tuesday that there are many domestic investors that have expressed interest to participate in the CCT project, which will be located on Pertamina?s own land in Lawe-Lawe.
He expected the company would present the planned CCT project to prospective investors at the end of March. He added that the project will be developed under a 20-year build, operate and transfer scheme.
Pertamina is planning to expand the capacity of the Balikpapan refinery.
Rachmad said that the CCT could also accommodate output from the planned Bontang oil refinery project, also in East Kalimantan, which will reduce the investment cost of the Bontang project as it would not have to build large crude tanks.
