Pertamina plans to build hydro power plants

State-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina is planning to build a number of hydro power plants in the country as the company has started making feasibility study in several potential areas.

Pertamina Director for New Energy Yenni Andayani said on Wednesday that a feasibility study in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara Province, is nearly completed.

The company plans to build a 5 MW hydro power plant in Lombok, she added, the output of which to be distributed to three provinces including West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, and Bali.

She said that Pertamina has been engaged in discussions with state-owned power firm PLN over the planned project. Yenni, however, did not say when construction will start and completed, nor the investment requirement. (*)
