Pertamina plans to sell unrelated units

The state-owned oil and gas company Pertamina in the long term will focus its business on energy and petrochemical sectors, according to company president Baihaki Hakim.

Baihaki told legislators on Thursday that the company might sell unrelated subsidiaries particularly those which had not been running well.

He was speaking at hearing with the House of Representatives commission VIII on energy and mining.

Baihaki did not say which subsidiaries would be sold out.

Among of Pertamina subsidiaries included tanker operation PT Pertamina Tongkang, airline company Pelita Air Service, hotel and property firm PT Patra Jasa, hospital unit PT Rumah Sakit Pertamina, shipyard PT Patra Dok Dumai, trading firm PT Pertamina Energy Trading, holding operations PT El Nusa, and PT El Nusa Harapan.

Baihaki said that only the last two companies where running at a loss.(Godang)
