Pertamina plans waste-to-energy project

State owned PT Pertamina has signed a preliminary agreement with waste management firm PT Godang Tuajaya on a possible development of up to 120 MW biomass fueled power plant.
?This is part of our efforts as a company that develops new and renewable sources of energy,? Pertamina Director for Gas Hari Karyuliarto said on Monday.
Godang Tuajaya is one of companies that manage Bantar Gebang waste landfill in Bekasi. Director Rekson Sitorus said that at present up to 4,000 tons of waste per day could be utilized as a source of energy.
Under the deal, Pertamina will be in charge of developing a power plant near the site from where the waste will be provided by Godang Tuajaya.
Hari Karyuliarto said Pertamina has allocated US$180 million for this project.
