Pertamina, PLN plan to import LNG

Two state owned firms, oil and gas firm PT Pertamina and electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), plan to import LNG up to 50 cargoes per year each to meet their needs in the latter part of this decade.
Pertamina said it was looking for 50 cargoes of LNG per year from 2018 through 2020 to meet the needs of its LNG terminals, including the Arun regassification plant in Aceh, several FSRUs in Java and mini LNG terminals in eastern Indonesia, all of which are expected to have come ontream during the period.
Pertamina is approaching Qatar and Singapore to supply the LNG, Salis Aprilian, Pertamina?s Senior VP of Power and Gas, said.
Meanwhile, PLN?s Fuel Oil and Gas Division Head Suryadi Mardjoeki told Petromindo that PLN is preparing a master sales agreement with several LNG producers overseas in case the domestic producer are unable to meet the firm?s LNG needs in the future.
?We are preparing sales agreement with Tangguh, Shell in Singapore, Qatar, and America,? Suryadi said.
He said PLN has assured enough LNG supplies for itself until 2015. Beyond 2015, its LNG needs will increase to 50 cargoes of LNG per year.
