State oil and gas firm Pertamina will next week resume talks with state electricity firm PLN over plan to build a coal-fired power plant in Cilacap, Central Java, Pertamina president director Baihaki Hakim said Friday.

?Pertamina is committed to surrendering its land to PLN for the power project,? Baihaki told reporters.

Baihaki said earlier that PT Geo Dipa Energy, a joint venture between Pertamina and PLN, had signed a memorandum of understanding with a Chinese firm to build a 300-megawatt coal power plant in Cilacap. The Chinese firm had expressed commitment to provide funding for the construction.

The project was expected to supply electricity to Pertamina?s oil refinery in Cilacap and to supply electricity to north Java electricity grid, Baihaki said. (godang)
