State oil and gas firm Pertamina and Philippine?s state energy firm PNOC on Monday commenced one-week talks in Jakarta over the possibility of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and exploration cooperation, according to a Pertamina source.
The meeting will discuss among others the possibility of exporting LNG to Philippines.
PNOC is interested in importing LNG from Indonesia as part of its plan to expand the Philippine natural gas industry beyond use for power generation, according to a memorandum of understanding signed late last year.
The source also said that the meeting would also discuss the possibility of setting up joint exploration programs in Indonesian upstream oil and gas and geothermal.
Reports said that Pertamina might offered stake at its newly discovered gas field in Donggi, Central Sulawesi, which has reserve of 4 trillion cubic feet.
Earlier, Philstar.Com, a Philippine newsmedia reported that PNOC?s unit Philippine National Oil Co.-Energy Development Corp. (PNOC-EDC) have signed an agreement to conduct geothermal exploration in Sulawesi.
PNOC-EDC president Sergio Apostol told reporters that a team would be dispatched to Indonesia this week to firm up the details of the agreement. (godang)
