PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) said its very large crude carrier (VLCC) Pertamina Pride has safely transited the Strait of Hormuz and resumed its voyage to Indonesia after being delayed in the Arabian Gulf since March.
The vessel departed the Arabian Gulf on July 7 and successfully passed through the Strait of Hormuz early on July 8 following an extensive risk assessment covering insurance, technical and operational readiness, security, and crew preparedness.
The successful transit follows the earlier passage of the VLCC Gamsunoro, allowing both PIS owned tankers to resume normal operations.
Acting Corporate Secretary Vega Pita said the voyage was monitored around the clock, with the ship's crew coordinating continuously with PIS' crisis center to ensure safe navigation.
The Pertamina Pride, which can carry up to 2 million barrels of crude oil, is now en route to Pertamina's Cilacap refinery in Central Java and is expected to arrive on July 23.
The company said it continues to closely monitor security conditions along international shipping routes while coordinating with relevant authorities to safeguard crews, cargoes and Indonesia's energy supply.
PIS, a subsidiary of state energy company Pertamina, serves as the holding company for Pertamina's Integrated Marine Logistics Subholding, providing marine transportation and logistics services for domestic and international energy markets.
