Pertamina protests for being edged out from Freeport tender

State owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina (Persero) has officially sent a protest to copper and gold giant PT Freeport Indonesia for being edged out from Freeport?s 30,000-40,000 kiloliter per month of fuel tender recently.

Pertamina?s spokesman M.Harun said in Jakarta on Friday that Freeport did not choose Pertamina as its fuel supplier because it considered the state oil and gas company was no longer competitive.

According to Harun, the main reason why Pertamina lodged its protest was because it was considered no longer commercially competitive. ?It is not fair because it does not reflect the fact. As a proof, Pertamina has been chosen by Newmont as its fuel supplier,? Harun said. (bernard)
