The East Kalimantan office of the state-owned oil and gas Pertamina said that it has allocated a total o 10.5 million liter of kerosene for the Samarinda town this month.
The company said in a press statement quoted by the local Kaltim Post that with such a huge amount of kerosene supply, it would be certain that there would no longer be shortage problem of the commodity in the area.
The Samarinda town had earlier been hit by shortage of kerosene, a basic commodity to many people in the area, which reports said that the shortage was particularly because the heavily-subsidized commodity had been smuggled out of the country.
The availability of the politically sensitive commodity in December is crucial as the country is celebrating year-end festivities which include the Ramadhan fasting month, the Moslem Idul Fitri celebration, Christmas and New Year.(*)
