State oil and gas company PT Pertamina says it has managed to douse the fire engulfing the remaining storage tank at its refinery facility in Cilacap, Central Java after more than two days of inferno.

The company said it used terminator cannon foam efforts to extinguish the fire on storage tank 31 T-7 at 10:35 West Indonesia time.

Previously the company had put down the fire on storage tanks 31 T-2 and 31 T-3 on Sunday.

White smoke gushed out from tank 31 T-7, which indicated that the fire had come under control.

The terminator canon foam is capable of shooting 3,500 gallons of foam and water per minute. Firemen needed around 24 tons of foam per hour and water that was supplied from two pipelines. Extra foam was supplied from other cities, including Jakarta that contributed 25 tons.

Meanwhile, efforts to cool down and protect tank 31 T-104 nearby tank 31 T-7 also continued to keep the temperature below 50 degree Celsius. (godang)
