State oil and gas company PT Pertamina has raised the price of Bahan Bakar Gas (BBG) or compressed natural gas from Rp 700 per liter, to Rp 1,550, starting Nov. 29, according to a statement from the company released late on Sunday.
Adiatma Sardjito, a company official, said that the move was necessary to help cover part of the annual losses of up to Rp 25 billion that Pertamina has had to endure ever since the commodity was first introduced in 1986.
The compressed natural gas proves to be a better choice to fuel vehicle?s engines. It produces for fewer pollutants than using conventional gasoline fuel. (*)
