Pertamina raises fuel prices, PLN sets new price for electricity

State oil and gas company Pertamina raised fuel prices for April following an increase in crude prices over the past several weeks.

The Premium gasoline will be sold at Rp 1,600 per liter at gas station this month, up from Rp 1,550 last month, while the selling price for the automotive diesel oil has risen to Rp 1,250 per liter from Rp 1,150, Pertamina said in a statement Sunday evening.

Kerosene price for household consumers remains at Rp 600 per liter.

Under the presidential decree No. 9/2002, Pertamina announces new fuel prices each month, which may decrease or increase depending on crude oil price in the previous month. The state company refers to the crude price recorded by Singapore-based agency Mid Oil Platts Singapore .

Pertamina also announced that this month it sells the Premium gasoline price for industrial buyers and ship owners at Rp 1,600 per liter, kerosene Rp 1,310 per liter, automotive diesel oil at Rp 1,250 per liter, industrial diesel oil at Rp 1,240 per liter and bunker oil at Rp 1,030 per liter.

Selling prices of fuel for mining and oil and gas industries are 100 percent of international prices, that is Rp 1,740 per liter for kerosene, Rp 1,600 per liter for Premium gasoline, Rp 1,700 per liter for automotive diesel oil, Rp 1,670 for industrial diesel oil and Rp 1,390 for bunker oil.

Meanwhile, state electricity company PT PLN has announced that it would charge its customers with new price this month.

Under the presidential decree No. 133/2001, PLN is allowed to raise electricity price by an average six percent every three months this year to ease its financial burden. (*)
