Pertamina raises fuel supply by up to 12 percent

State owned oil and gas company Pertamina has raised the ceiling of the national fuel supply by an average of 12 percent to about 185,000 kiloliters per day to anticipate the surge in the fuel demand during national school holidays which will begin from the middle of June to the middle of July, this year, Suara Karya reported Thursday.

"The increase in the ceiling of the national fuel supply is needed in order to meet the surge in the fuel demand during the school holidays," Pertamina's spokesman M. Harun was quoted as saying by the newspaper.

He said that the ceiling for the supply of the diesel oil had been increased by up to 21 percent to about 86,000 kilo liters per day to face the rise in the demand within the next two months.

"The rise in the supply for diesel oil is higher than other fuels to meet the rise in the demand not only from holiday makers but also from a number of combined-cycle power plants which had to use diesel fuel due to disruption of their gas supply," he said.

The ceiling for the Premium fuel supply had been increased by up to seven percent to 47,700 kiloliters per day.

However, unlike diesel fuel and Premium fuel, the ceiling for kerosene supply has been kept at about 27,000 kiloliters per day, he said. (*)
