State energy company PT Pertamina has raised the retail price of non-subsidized liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for households, namely the Bright Gas brand of 5.5-kg cylinder LPG, Bright Gas of 12-kg cylinder LPG and the 12-kg cylinder LPG.

Acting Corporate Secretary of Pertamina's commercial and trading sub-holding company PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Irto Ginting, said the price increase was in line with the rise in oil and gas prices in the global market.

The price of Aramco Contract Price (CPA) in January rose to US$775 per metric ton or an increase of about 21 percent from the average CPA price in 2021, Pertamina said.

However, the price of the subsidized 3-kg cylinder LPG has not changed, Irto said.

The price adjustment applies to the non-subsidized LPG, which represents 6.7 percent of national LPG consumption in January 2022. Meanwhile, the subsidized 3-kg cylinder LPG represents 93 percent of national consumption, Irto added.

The retail price of non-subsidized LPG has been increased by around Rp15,500 per kg.

This price adjustment has taken into account the conditions and capabilities of the non-subsidized LPG market, Irto added.

Following the price adjustment, the price of LPG for Bright Gas of 5.5-kg LPG cylinder at filling plants in Banten province increased to Rp88,000 and Bright Gas of 12-kg cylinder increased to Rp187,000. The same price also applies in Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta and East Java provinces.
