Starting from today (Monday), state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina has raised the prices of high-quality Pertamax and Pertamax Plus and Pertamax Dex fuels by up to 12 percent, Investor Daily Indonesia newspaper reported in its Monday edition.

Through its decree signed by the director of marketing and trade on April 28, 2006, Pertamina has set the prices of three fuels which vary in different regions.

For Java island, for instance, the price of Pertamax has gone up by 8.6 percent to Rp 5,800, Pertamax Plus by 12 percent to Rp 6,050 and Pertamax Dex 5.1 percent to Rp 5,800 per liter.

But the price of Pertamina Dex has remained unchanged at Rp 5,800 per liter in Batam.

?Effective from May 1, 2006, the prices of Pertamina?s products Pertamax, Pertamax Plus and Pertamax Dex have been increased to the new prices,? Pertamina?s spokesperson M. Harun said in a press release on Sunday.

The increase was due to the surge in international oil prices.(*)
